At Grolsch, we strive to reduce the brewery’s COâ‚‚ emissions and energy consumption. Our ambition is to become a NET ZERO brewery by 2030, with energy generated in a sustainable way. We are proud of the progress we have made in recent years and remain fully committed to achieving this goal. Between 2019 and 2025, we reduced the brewery’s COâ‚‚ emissions by 82%.

“Grolsch has set itself the ambitious goal of becoming a net-zero brewery by 2030. Our partnership with Twence makes an important contribution to achieving this ambition.
The heat we supply is generated from biomass made from non-reusable waste wood. This means the energy is generated entirely from biomass. The hot water is used by Grolsch to heat pasteurizers and rinsing machines, as well as to heat the brewery’s buildings.
This unique partnership enables Grolsch to save several million cubic meters of natural gas every year. The reduction in natural gas consumption also results in a significant reduction in COâ‚‚ emissions. By expanding the supply of heat and steam to district heating networks and large industrial consumers, Twence can make more energy available to households and regional industry. This makes a valuable contribution to the energy and emissions targets of our region and to Grolsch specifically.
