Lean & green

In 2023, we were proud to receive our second Lean & Green NL star. A great recognition of our efforts to further reduce emissions from our distribution flows, including draft beer, exports, and De Klok Dranken. We achieved this second star together with our partners Bolk Transport B.V., Combi Terminal Twente B.V., and Heisterkamp Transportation Solutions.

In the years that followed, we worked hard to achieve our third star, which we received in June 2025. Together with De Klok Dranken, we achieved this through initiatives including:

• The opening of a new distribution center for De Klok Dranken in Almere, incorporating energy-saving measures. The redistribution of routes results in fewer kilometers driven and lower fuel consumption.
• Optimizing loading efficiency, route planning, and the ordering process, resulting in fewer trips and lower emissions.
• Using intermodal transport to and from England, with beer transported largely by inland waterway rather than by road. This directly reduces CO₂ emissions and helps ease congestion on the road network.
• Switching draft beer installations to short trailers with electrically steered rear axles. These trailers are pulled by new Euro 6 tractor units.
